Update: Successful Completion of 5-Day In-Service Training for FARM STEW Planters in Lusaka

From June 20th to June 25th, a comprehensive 5-day in-service training session was held in Lusaka, which focused on upskilling our dedicated FARM STEW planters. Working with trainers of trainers, the workshop saw the participation of 30 individuals who had come together from around the country.

Upon completion of the program, these trainers dispersed back to their respective 26 locations, equipped with enhanced skills and knowledge to further the FARM STEW mission and programme with participating communities.

The session emphasized organic agricultural techniques, sustainable farming practices, and community engagement strategies, ensuring each trainer is better prepared to lead and educate within their communities. This initiative marks a significant step in strengthening our network of planters and promoting sustainable agricultural development across the region.

Wilderness Gate and FARM STEW International Planters work in some of the most remote regions of the country, often with 40-50 households in up to 5 communities per individual Planter. The Planters have in the past been required to walk and hike immense distances in order to reach these communities. Recently, we have been able to provide the planters with robust Buffalo Bicycles to improve their mobility and efficiency.

To further improve their ability to reach each household and community, Wilderness Gate is working to provide motorcycles in a number of areas and to equip Planters with additional tools required to further their work. To this end, we invite you to contribute to these projects by visiting wildernessgate.org/contribute

Your support of Wilderness Gate and our efforts together with FARM STEW International play a vital role in furthering our mission in the remote areas of Zambia. We are grateful for your support and can’t wait to share the progress we’re able to make through your contributions.
